on page 18, line 6 from the bottom, should be insert:

" I said that the Davidsonian didn't appreciate the commitment to sentence meanings once 'that' -clause are recognized as referential singular terms, and I want to elaborate this a little, for the situation holds a certain irony.

I've argued, with Frege and many others, that 'that' -clauses are referential singular terms, but I've yet to inquire into the nature of their references. Yet it's clear that whatever 'that' -clauses refer to, these things must be capable of having truth-values." [This means, ...]

And, though I eust skip the details, there's bound to be such a theory given that, for the Davidsonian, a finitely statable truth theory is available to determine a reference for each 'that' -clause on the basis of its syntax and the references its component words have in it."
