The purpose of this course is to analyze and examine the workings of management in its functions and roles in the unique environment of the Central and East European countries.

The current state of management in Central and East European countries. Managers' resistance resulting from the former centrally planned system. Comparative analysis of management development in different post-communist countries. The transformation of managers: characteristics of managers in privately owned and state owned companies. Organizational structure and corporate governance development in the companies. The role of Czech managers in Joint-Ventures. Management learning in joint-ventures, different methods of managerial learning. Management in the automotive industry. HRM and its specific role in the transition period. Financial management. Marketing and promotion in the Czech Republic. Technological development in the transition period.

Graduated from the Technical University Ostrava. A Full Professor of Management and Organization. Director of the Center for Executive Studies and International Activities at Prague International Business School. Former Vice-Rector for International Relations at UEP. Has lectured as visiting scholar at Indiana University and Texas A&M as well as the Johannes Kepler University Linz. Active as consultant for many Czech industrial companies and member of several Supervisory Boards. Listed in Who is Who in Czech Republic since 2000 and Who is Who in the World since 2000.
